  • Fully illustrated with nearly 400 hand coloured woodcuts. A full page woodcut illustration on verso of leaf a3 depicting three savants with two attendants in a chemist's shop, behind them an apprentice with mortar. This woodcut is said to represent Aristoteles teaching other physicians, and it was copied in nearly all the German Hortus editions, with varying amounts of alterations. Other woodcuts illustrate plants, animals, people (2 women and 3 men), and objects. Cf. Early herbals
