Summary
Thirty-two volumes of patient records for patients addicted to opiates from Philadelphia General Hospital, 1926-1929. The first twenty-one volumes are in alphabetical order by patient's last name, beginning with Vol. 1: Abr-Bal, and ending with Vol. 21: Web-Zay. Patient information can include name, race, age, birthplace, diagnosis, admission and discharge dates, attending physicians, whether they were "cured," extenisve case notes, and medical charts. Volumes 22 through 28 contain "experimental data," including circulation and function tests; blood analyses; pulse rate, respiration, and blood pressure; and "water balance" experiments and morphine excretion. Volume 29 contains psychological reports and summaries by a Dr. Partidge. Volumes 30 and 31 are condensed histories of patients (men and women) admitted to the narcotics ward for the years 1927-1929
