  • Contains three parts: De vita sana (leaves a2-d3); De vita longa (leaves d4-h4); and De vita caelitus (leaves h5-r2v), to which is appended Ficino's Apologia (leaves r2v-r6v) and his Quod necessaria sit ad vitam securitas (leaves r6v-r8r).
Note
  • Imperfect: Leaf h5 (title leaf of De vita caelitus) wanting; holes through text on leaves h6 and h7. A large tear on leaf d8 has been mended.
  • Rubrication: Initials and paragraph marks supplied in alternating blue and red. Large initials at the beginning of each part supplied in blue ink, decorated in rust ink, and illuminated in gilt.
  • With a few ms. underlinings. Two ms. inscriptions on title-leaf: one, illegible; the other reads: Coll. Mart. Soc. Jesu. [two words illegible] Doctoris Martj. Another ms. ownership inscription beneath end of text inked out: Petrus [illegible]. Inscription on front flyleaf: J.D. Coleridge, 1 Sussex Square, 1869.
  • Purchased by the College of Physicians of Philadelphia prior to 2 May 1922.
  • With booklabels of E.P. Jacobsen on front pastedown and Watkins, Charing Cross, London on endleaf.
  • Bound in full vellum with black-stamped spine. Erroneous date on spine: "1489".
