According to Wells and Strait (p. 309), the 6th Vet. Vols. were mustered out from March 15 to July 27, 1866. George Upton (Jefferson Med. Coll. 1833; practised in Lagrangeville, N.Y., until 1884) served as Ass't Surg. till March, 1866; David C[orey] Lloyd (Jefferson 1867; listed by S. Weir Mitchell as a medical cadet during the War) served as Ass't. Surg. till April, 1866, and died before 1882; A[ugustus] W[illiam] McDowell (UPaMed 1840, died 1878) served as Surgeon till April, 1866
