Remarks: Pitcher was given to Dr. Chapman and 12 other Philadelphia Physicians who attended victims of the 1892 Asian Cholera epidemic in Philadelphia. Label from 1988 silver exhibit reads: ""Water pitcher presented to Dr Nathaniel Chapman in 1832 by the city of Philadelphia for his efforts in treating the sick during the Asiatic cholera epidemic in that year. Presented to the College in 1966 by Mr. Sydney Thayer Jr. Dr Chapman was the great-great-grandfather of Mr. Thayer, and also the first president of the A.M.A. when it was organized in Philadelphia in 1847.""
