In scientia medicinali: [et] specialiter perfectis incipit: qui summa conseruationis [et] curationis appellatur: Et sic incipit. Colophon reads: Explicit opus magistri Gulielmi placentini de saliceto i[n] scientia medicinali pratice quod summa curatio[n]is [et] conseruationis appellatur. (2) Chirurgia (leaves t1v-[et]6r).   • Imperfect: First leaf (blank) wanting. Bottom margin of leaf x3 has been mended, with wanting text supplied in ms.
  • Rubrication: Initials supplied in alternating red and faded blue ink. Large initial on leaf a2 supplied in blue, decorated in red, and illuminated with gilt. Inserted title leaf lettered and decorated in blue and red ink, and accented with gilt.
  • Foliated incorrectly in ms. With contemporary ms. annotations in margins in two different hands. Contemporary ms. inscription on verso of last leaf.
  • Presented to the College of Physicians of Philadelphia by George Fales Baker, M.D., prior to 18 July 1901; with the bookplate and bookstamp of the J. Stockton Hough Library. Inscription by Hough on inserted leaf suggests that he acquired this book in 1889.
  • Bound in half modern cream vellum over white cloth boards, with gold-stamped maroon Morocco spine label; marbled endpapers of former binding retained.
  • Leaf size: 280 x 190 mm. Tightly bound, with closely trimmed top margin and some loss of marginal ms. annotations.
