Context of 11th and 12th dorsal and 1st lumbar vertebrae. Vertical fracture of the twelfth dorsal and crescentric fractures of the upper and anterior lip of the first lumbar. Recent. The last dorsal is severely crushed. The left side of the body has suffered somewhat more than the right side. On the left the body is fissured transversely at the middle. The upper articulating surface has bee forced downwards. This vertical pressure has fractured the first lumbar vertebra at the anterior upper margin, nearly detaching a crescentric piece of bone embracing in the median line 7mm of the articular surface, and 1 cm of the anterior surface being 5cm in extent. The patient did not survive the accident very long
